Famous People With Stutter
Stuttering is a speech disorder that affects individuals and causes them to repeat or prolong words, syllables, or phrases. People with stutters, also known as stammerers may find it difficult to utter certain sounds or start sentences easily. Known symptoms or attributes of people with stutters include beating their body parts, stamping of the foot, rapid blinks, or trembling jaws.
Although stammering can be seen as a form of speech disorder or disability, there are people that have risen above this impediment and gone ahead to make a name for themselves. Here is a list of famous people with stutters- this list is drawn from amongst actors, singers, and entertainers:
IK Ogbonna
A Nollywood actor and one of Nigeria’s sought-after baby boy, IK Ogbonna is one of the top celebrities in Nigeria, he is good-looking, calm, and gentle. Unknown to a lot of people, he once battled stutters but going by how well he has done in the Nollywood circle, he seemed to have outgrown the stutter.
Marc Anthony
Pop singer who is a two-time Grammy and three-time Latin Grammy winner. He has sold more than 12 million albums worldwide and his stutter has not stopped him from serenading the world with his voice.
Rowan Atkinson
Often called “Great Britain’s Funniest Man” and popularly known as Mr. Bean, the comedic actor has starred on BBC radio, TV, and in movies including Mr. Bean’s Holiday and Johnny English.
Emily Blunt
This Golden Globe Award-winning actress is probably best known for her work in My Summer of Love and The Devil Wears Prada. She is featured on the Stuttering Foundation’s Famous People Who Stutter brochure and poster.
